What is the Profoto Clic CTO Kit?

The Profoto Clic CTO Kit is a collection of color temperature orange gels designed specifically for the Profoto B10 and B10 Plus lights. This kit allows photographers to modify light temperature, creating a warmer look that resembles natural sunlight during golden hour. The use of CTO filters is essential for achieving a cohesive color palette when mixing ambient and artificial light sources.

How do I attach the Profoto Clic CTO gels to my light?

Attaching the Profoto Clic CTO gels is simple due to the magnetic design of the Clic mount. Once you have your Profoto light, simply align the gel with the magnetic base and let it snap into place. This quick attachment method allows for seamless transitions between different gels, enhancing your lighting setup without wasting valuable time during shoots.

Can I use the Profoto Clic CTO Kit with any lighting system?

The Profoto Clic CTO Kit is specifically designed for use with Profoto lighting systems, such as the B10 and B10 Plus. While the gels will not be compatible with other brands, their effectiveness in modifying color temperature makes them a top choice for professional photographers using Profoto gear. This ensures that you get the best results in both studio and outdoor environments.

What are the benefits of using the Clic CTO filters?

By using the Clic CTO filters, photographers can achieve a more balanced and natural look in their images. These filters are great for matching artificial light to existing ambient light, especially during sunset or sunrise. Additionally, they help in enhancing skin tones and creating a warm atmosphere in portrait photography, making them a versatile addition to any photographer's kit.

Is the Profoto Clic CTO Kit portable?

Yes, the Profoto Clic CTO Kit is designed with portability in mind. The lightweight and compact design allows photographers to easily carry it in their gear bag without adding much bulk. This portability makes it suitable for both studio setups and on-location shoots, ensuring you have the right tools for any lighting situation.

How do the Clic CTO gels affect exposure?

Using Clic CTO gels may require slight adjustments to your exposure settings, as the gels reduce the light output from your Profoto flashes. Photographers often need to compensate for this by adjusting the aperture, ISO, or shutter speed to maintain the desired exposure. This added control helps fine-tune the creative process for a more polished final image.

What types of photography benefit from the Clic CTO Kit?

The Clic CTO Kit is particularly beneficial in portrait and wedding photography, where creating warm, inviting imagery is essential. Additionally, it can be used in product photography to enhance the overall aesthetic appeal, especially for items aimed at lifestyle branding. This versatility makes the kit a staple for various creative projects.

Do the filters come with a storage case?

The Profoto Clic CTO Kit typically comes with a protective storage pouch that helps keep the gels organized and safe from damage. This case facilitates easy transport and ensures that each gel remains scratch-free and ready for use whenever you need them. Organized storage is key for maintaining the longevity of your photography accessories.

Can I stack multiple gels from the kit?

Yes, you can stack multiple Clic gels for more complex lighting effects. This allows you to create various color temperatures and effects by layering different gels. Stacking can be particularly useful in creative photography projects where lighting needs to be uniquely tailored to convey a specific mood or style.
