Psychiatry Editorial Review

The "Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD: A Comprehensive Therapist Manual" Second Edition has received a predominantly positive reception from therapists who utilize cognitive processing therapy (CPT) in their practice. Many users have found the updated manual to be a valuable resource, complete with practical handouts that are easily accessible via an accompanying site. It is noted for its comprehensive breakdown of sessions, providing clarity and structure for therapists working with clients, especially veterans. The manual's inclusion of examples and worksheets has been highlighted as particularly beneficial, facilitating easier implementation of the therapy in clinical settings. While the content of the manual garners high praise for its effectiveness and applicability, concerns have been raised about its format. Users have reported issues with the Kindle version, citing difficulties with font size and background options that hinder readability—especially for those with vision challenges. Additionally, the print version has faced criticism for print quality, with some copies arriving with lighter ink, making it tough to read. Moreover, reports of missing pages in certain editions have contributed to some dissatisfaction. Despite these concerns, the overall sentiment supports the value of the manual in enhancing therapeutic practices surrounding PTSD. **
